Wake by Amanda Hocking
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
The opening scene was really good. It was creepy, and set the book up for something great.
Unfortunately though, it went downhill very fast, and i didn't like it again until i was near the end.
It was boring, and uneventful.
It did pick up again at page 214, and delivered the creepiness i was waiting for. It was a case of too little too late though, so my overall opinion on the book wasn't a particularly good one.
I didn't really connect with any of the characters.
Gemma had as much depth as a paddling pool, so i really didn't know why she'd be wanted as a siren.
Harper was quite annoying. I know she was only trying to protect her sister, but she took it a bit too far. She often went from protective, to possessive.
Overall, It wasn't really a book i enjoyed. The creepiness that the prologue promised, didn't deliver until near the ending, and was very uneventful until that point.
