The Deepest Cut by J.A. Templeton
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Ever since Riley was involved in the car crash that took her mothers life, Riley has been able to see ghosts. When her and her family move to Scotland for a fresh start, Riley meets a ghost who's tied to the land where he died for all eternity, all because of a servant's infatuation.
I only liked Shane and Laria.
Riley annoyed me. As soon as she met Ian, she was obsessed. She fell in love really really quick with a ghost. I know falling in love with a ghost isn't new, i've read countless ghost stories where it happens. That doesn't make it any less weird though. Especially when in this, Ian can actually touch Riley. Even going as far as groping her while she's asleep.
Laria was a creepy, psychotic ghost, Who would do anything to make Riley back off. Her parts were great, but it also made me even more annoyed at Riley. Countless times, Laria tries to seriously harm Riley. People hear banging and come to see if Riley's okay, and she's totally fine. Riley, a ghost just tried to strangle you, and you're not even batting an eyelid!
I really liked Shane. He was so protective of Riley, and so sweet.
Riley's relationship with her dad was non existent. He only popped up now and again to give some fatherly remarks.
The ending did come with a cliffhanger, which does leave you wondering what will happen next. Unfortunately though, i don't think i'll be reading the next installment.
