Shadow Embraced by Cheree Smith
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
(I received a copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review)
I really enjoyed the beginning. The writing was detailed, and had loads of action.
Unfortunately, as it progressed, it got less interesting, and quickly became boring.
Scarlet was a good character in the beginning. She was strong, quite stubborn, and a bit of a rebel. Though, as the story progressed, i found she changed.
After being taken from her family and friends, i really thought she'd put up more of a fight. All her stubbornness and strong will sort of vanished, and she accepted it quiet quick.
I would have liked to see more of how she felt about that, instead of her just being pushed into training.
The only parts i sort of liked, was the fighting scenes, but they weren't very exciting either.
Overall, this had a really good start, and i was looking forward to the rest of the story. However, it didn't last very long, and started to bore me quite quick.
