Blood to Blood (Angelica Brown, #1)Blood to Blood by Ife Oshun
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

(I received a copy from Netgalley, In exchange for an honest review.)

Actual rating - 2.5

This wasn't an awful read, but it wasn't one that I could really enjoy. The pacing was slow, and the story couldn't keep my interest very well. The characters could be pretty annoying at times as well, so I didn't really like them.

I felt sorry for Both Callie and Vic in this. What happened to Callie was awful, but what Vic had to go through wasn't very nice either.

I had a feeling that I knew who the rapist was early on, so it wasn't really a surprise when it was revealed. It didn't make the story any less enjoyable though.

Overall, Predictable, but a decent read.

(I received a copy from Netgalley, In exchange for an honest review.)

The main characters were okay, but I didn't love either of them. They could both be annoying at times.

This wasn't a bad read, but the pacing killed it for me. It was so so slow, and by the time I got to 20%, it already felt like I'd been reading it all day.

Overall, Okay read, but dragged too much.

The main characters in this were all very competitive, and would do anything to get the lead. It was quite surprising how far they were willing to go!

This was a really good read, which kept my interest throughout. I really enjoyed it!

I wasn't a huge fan of Bryn in book one, but in this one I really didn't like her. She was annoying, and after a while, I was sick of her.

Just like book one, I found the pacing pretty slow, which made the story drag. Bryn made it worse.

Overall, Not an enjoyable read.

Bryn was an okay character, but at times I didn't really understand her.

This wasn't a bad read, but the pacing was a killer. It was way too slow for me, so most of the story dragged.

Overall, Not a huge fan, but it was okay.

I felt sorry for Reagen in this at points. She had a tough time of it in the past, and the problems she had with the builders was obviously stressful. That being said though, I didn't love her character.
Alex wasn't an awful character, but again, I didn't love him.

This was an okay read, but I did find myself getting bored at points, and I was quite glad when it was finished.

I felt sorry for Karen at the start of this. Having to move into your fathers house when you've never known him would be hard. I did find her annoying after a bit though.

This started out okay, but it quickly went downhill. The arguing between Karen and Miranda got annoying very quickly, and it seemed to be the main focus for a huge chunk of the book.

Overall, Not an awful read, but it dragged.

Both the main characters in this were really strong, and I really liked them.
I felt sorry for Cassie, as what she had to see when she was younger would have been awful. I felt even more sorry for Noah, as what he went through all those years was absolutely horrific.
They made such a good couple!

This was a really good read, and it had me tearing up quite a few times!

I liked both the main characters in this, although it did take me a bit longer to warm to Holder than it did with Sky.

The twist in this was interesting, and I didn't see it coming until a few pages before it happened.

Overall, A decent read.

I didn't warm to Kendra enough to really like her, but she was a strong character.

There was one or two times where my interest started to go a bit, but the action bought it back.

Overall, A quick read with plenty of action.

Lou was a strong character, but I couldn't warm to her enough to love her.

This started out pretty good, but I lost interest a bit as the story progressed.

This was an okay read overall, though, I prefer the authors other apocalyptic series, Born.

The characters in this weren't bad, but I didn't really feel anything for them. I was hoping that maybe that would change later on in the book, but I just couldn't warm to them unfortunately.

This was an okay read, but I found it slightly confusing as I had a bit of difficulty following the story at points.

Overall, An okay contemporary read.

This one was better than the first, but it still wasn't something that I really enjoyed.

The story could be quite confusing at times, and I had to read a few things twice to understand what was going on. It did feel like it was dragging at times because of it, but it was nowhere near as bad as book one thankfully.

The first few pages of this were pretty good, but it went downhill after that. The 15% after that was all about life before it happened, and I found it pretty dull. It was also slightly confusing, as there was loads of characters introduced in a short time.
There was a few pages after that that were interesting, but again, it went back to life before which was really annoying.

Elly really annoyed me at the start of this, and although she still had annoying moments later on in the book, I couldn't help but warm to her. She was treated so awfully by her family, and it seemed that everyone she thought she could count on walked away. I just wanted to give the poor girl a hug!

There was a few parts that bored me, and as I said before, there was a few parts where Elly annoyed me, but the majority of it was pretty good.

I felt sorry for Pearl in this quite a few times. The poor girl must have been so confused at times, and some of the things she had to do weren't very nice.

I found the pacing in this to be quite slow, and the story bored me in places because of it. The second half picked up a bit thankfully, so it wasn't quite so slow as the first half, but I still didn't love the story.

Overall, An okay read, but took a while to get going.

I felt quite sorry for Sydney at points. Her mother forced her into something she didn't feel comfortable doing, and basically told her that her feelings weren't valid. Not very nice at all.

This was an okay read, but I did find myself lacking motivation to pick it back up. There wasn't anything awfully wrong with it though, so I don't know why I had so much trouble getting through it.

I will be picking another of the authors books up at some point, as I do think her books could be enjoyable for me. I just think this one was a case of wrong book, wrong person.

I felt really sorry for Nikki throughout this. Having her mother die, and then finding out something that big would be reallly hard to deal with.

This was an okay read, but I found it really predictable. I guessed how the two stories were conneted to each other very early on. It wasn't a surprise when it was revealed at all.
I also found the story to be quite slow in areas, so there was a few times where I felt bored.

Overall, Okay read, but very predictable.

Before reading this, I was certain this would be another 5 star rating, as I loved the first three so much. Unfortunately though, I didn't like it quite as much.

It was still a really good read, but I didn't like Eadlyn as much as America as she could be quite bratty, and I didn't like the romance anywhere near as much.

I loved seeing America and Maxon together again, they were still so madly in love! It was nice seeing other characters from the original series again too.

This ended on a cliffhanger, and although I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the other three, the wait for the next one is still going to be torture!

I felt so sorry for Annika and the other characters in this. Being sent to a camp and not seeing your family again would be awful, and getting handed an instrument after learning that music meant death would be absolutely awful.

This was a really good, but heartbreaking read. I was on the verge of crying quite a few times, but at the end it took me while to stop!
